A design system is a set of standards to manage design at scale by reducing redundancy while creating a shared language and visual consistency across different pages and channels.
Why use a design system?
#1
Increase velocity, design and build products faster
#2
Create a cohesive user experience for Wix users
#3
Free up time for real innovation
Our Design Systems are part of the Building Blocks.
Components owns 2 of Wix’s design systems
We develop components for the design systems which are used within Wix and by app builders outside of Wix to create consistent experiences for our users. Our primary audience are both designers and developers.
WDS (Wix Design System)
Our public design system, which is available to app builders outside of Wix
AP (Automatic Panels Design System)
A public library that contains all panels controllers and is used for our DIY users and external app builders to build the automatic panels.
TPA (Wix Third Party Apps)
Verticals use TPA components for on stage components and widgets
Consumers & Contribution Model: The method we use in order to enlarge our library, by getting the help of other companies that are in need of a certain component that is not developed in the oue design system. All of them use components and utilities of the library inside their products, which eventually appear on Wix sites as applications.
